Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.
Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks his initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from spring of the previous year.
Victory also signifies he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.
His counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional title, took control to create a final set.
The opponent defended four early chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
